Iomega Parallel Zip Driver

Release Notes

version .20 - 2/28/1999

*** This is an alpha version of this driver.

See the README file for installation instructions. This driver has was tested on R4 for Intel only. The binary version in the archive assumes that the zip drive is connected to lpt1. Currently the only way to change the port is to modify the source code and recompile. This will be addressed in a future revision. If you want to modify the port, modify the DEFAULT_IOPORT define in the parport.h file. Specify in hex, the port address. (0x378 = lpt1, 0x3bc = lpt2, etc).

Rewrote much of the driver. It should be much more stable than earlier versions. Added support for
EPP parallel ports. More work needs to be done in this area as it is not as fast as it is in other
operating systems, although this version is significantly faster than earlier versions.

There are problems when using the printer and the zip drive on the same parallel port during the same BeOS session. I'm looking into that one.

Many people reported strange behavior with earlier versions. In an effort to know if my recent updates are more stable, drop me a note at mattc@ic.net to let me know how things go for you.

Good Luck...
